Peachtree City is a planned community 25 miles south of Atlanta on the western side of Fayette County. According to the 2000 Census there are 31,580 residents living in its approximately 15,500 acres. What makes Peachtree City unique is the amenities it offers. There are two approximately 250 acre lakes, 70 plus miles of golf car trails, 3 golf courses, an outdoor amphitheater, a BMX bike track, a nationally recognized 18 court public tennis complex, 4 parks, 5 public pools, and an additional 84 outdoor sport and recreation areas.A general first impression of Peachtree City is that it is distinctly different that other cities, but it is not always immediately obvious why.An occasional golf car darting along a trail is usually the first clue that life in Peachtree City is different.For some reason this city of over 30,000 residents seems more like a small town. What is not  so obvious is why. The city was very carefully planned. This plan detailed everything from the placement of the industrial park, neighborhoods and shopping centers to the golf car trails, golf courses, and parks. As part of the city plan, tree cutting is restricted, green belt buffer space is reserved, business signs are limited to 4 feet tall, and the village layout neatly divides the city into several parts making it seem like several small towns in close vicinity. |
The city is divided up into six parts. There are 5 villages Glenloch, Braelinn, Kedron, Aberdeen, and West Side .
There is also a 2,600 acre industrial park located on the western side of the city.The primary traffic artery is the 7 mile stretch of Hwy 74 between Peachtree City and Interstate 85. The secondary artery is Hwy 54 which links Peachtree City to Newnan toward the West and Fayetteville to the East.

System. This school system is one of the highest rated in the state. Here

Directions to Peachtree City
From Atlanta:
1) Take I-85 South out of Atlanta
2)Take Exit 61, This is the Fairburn / Peachtree City (Hwy 74)
3)Turn left onto Hwy 74 and back over I-85. You will be traveling South on Hwy 74). Set your trip odometer to 0.
4) The Peachtree City limit is 7.4 miles down Hwy 74. There will be a sign on the left that says Welcome to Peachtree City.
5)The first traffic light in Peachtree City will be at the intersection of Hwy 74 and Peachtree Parkway. Landmarks to the right are the Fire Station and a large water tower. To the left will be the Kedron Shopping Center. There is a Kroger grocery store in it.
6) The main intersection in Peachtree City is Hwy54/Hwy74 intersection which is 11 miles from I-85.
7)The next main intersection is Crosstown Rd and Hwy 74 which is 13.3 miles from I-85. (There is a gas station on the corner) |
